Air Filtration Systems in Salt Lake City, UT by One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

A lot of people suffer coughing and sneezing fits during certain times of the year, or get sick during the winter. This is attributed to things like allergens and the flu season, which is technically correct. What often isn’t discussed, however, is how poor indoor air quality can exacerbate those conditions. Without proper systems in place, pollen and germs can flood your home’s air. This makes it much easier for you to suffer the negative effects of exposure to those contaminants. One of the best ways to combat airborne contaminants in your home is by installing an air filtration system. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, call One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning today.

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning offers quality air filtration systems and air filtration services throughout Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Call us today to schedule an appointment.

Why You Need an Air Filtration System

The air in your home is full of millions upon millions of microscopic airborne contaminants. These contaminants include dust, mites, dander, mold spores, viruses, bacteria, and many more. With every breath you take, you inhale a lot of these contaminants. While a few here and there may not be enough to harm you, if the levels of contaminants in your air are allowed to build up it can negatively affect your health.

Types of Air Filtration Systems

An air filtration system is a fiber mesh woven over a frame. Though simple, it is quite effective at removing harmful particulates from the air. As air travels through the filter, any contaminants that it is carrying become tangled in the fibers. This allows air flow in the home to continue uninterrupted, while preventing the circulation of airborne contaminants.

There are many different kinds of air filters, each rated according to the MERV system. MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, and is meant to measure what the smallest particles are that each filter can capture. For example, a MERV rating of up to 4 signifies that the filter is capable of capturing most relatively larger particles, like dust and pollen. A MERV rating of 12 or higher indicates that the filter is so finely woven that it can actually capture individual germ cells. Higher MERV rated filters might be too finely woven for your HVAC system to circulate air through them, so it’s important to consult with a professional about which air filtration system is right for you.

We Install and Service Whole House Air Filtration Systems in Salt Lake City, UT

While portable versions of air filters do exist, we believe that the best way to improve your air quality is by installing a whole house air filtration system. These are air filters that are installed in the ductwork of your home, typically in the air return duct for your air conditioning and heating systems. This allows the filter to treat all air that is being circulated around the home, thus improving your overall air quality.
